Monroe County students competed in the nationals in Louisville May 11-13. PMS students Abby Craghead, Jacob Dillon, Sydney Phipps, and Anthony Wills will shoot for the JMHS team. 5th graders Elizabeth Adkins, Isabel Adkins, Jaycee Adkins, Cheyanne Collins, Matthew Counts, Justin Feamster, Alley French, Madisyn Gregory, Joshua Meadows, Cole Thomas, and Garritt Wright earned scores to participate with the PES team. Congratulations on advancing to national competition.
Congratulations to Peterstown Elementary archery team for finishing 2nd place at the WV State Archery Championship Saturday. Isabel Adkins shot a 260 to lead 5th graders and place 10th in elementary girls. Other top fifth grade scores were Alley French 255, cole Thomas 249, Garritt Wright 245, Madisyn Gregory 245, Josh Meadows 242 and Justin Feamster 241.
Congratulations to Jacob Dillon for his 289 score in the competition. Jacob finished as the first place male in the middle division.
Jacob and the elementary team qualified to go to the Nationals in Kentucky in May.
John Woodson Memorial Archery Tournament
Peterstown Middle School was recently the site of the 2nd annual John Woodson Memorial Archery Tournament. PES, PMS, and JMHS gathered to honor the memory of Coach John Woodson, the beginning instructor of the National Archery in the School program at PMS.
The highest scores out of 300 possible points were -
PES - Girls, Alley French, 247; Boys, Garritt Wright, 271
PMS - Girls, Abby Craghead, 260; Boys, Jacob Dillon, 280
JMHS - Girls, Courtney Perdue, 276; Boys, Todd Craghead, 292
The Elementary Team competed at Northside in Roanoke on March 19.
Peterstown Middle and Peterstown Elementary teams brought home trophies from the Pocahontas County tournament Saturday, March 4. PMS placed 3rd and PES placed 2nd. Individual awards for PMS were earned by Jacob Dillon and Anthony Wills. PES winners were Garritt Wright, Alley French, Isabel Adkins, and Cole Thomas.
